When Chiron comes back to where it started
Chiron takes roughly fifty years to go round. Most calculators for this add fifty to your birth year and stop. That is the wrong year for about half of everybody, and it is not a date at all.

Why this one needed building
Chiron is a small body between Saturn and Uranus, discovered in 1977. Almost no astronomy library computes it — the one this site uses covers the Sun through Pluto and no centaurs — so its positions here come from a table fetched directly from NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory: sixty-five thousand daily positions, from 1920 to 2100.
That is the reason the free tools for this transit do arithmetic instead. Adding fifty to a birth year needs no data. It also gets the year wrong for about half of all birthdays, and it cannot tell you a day, a month, or how many times the return happens.
What the orbit actually does
You will read in a lot of places that the Chiron return varies wildly with birth year — that it can arrive as early as 46 or as late as 52, because Chiron's orbit is so lopsided. Measured against the real positions, that is not what happens. A body returning to its own longitude takes one full orbit, and the eccentricity moves the date around far more than it moves the age.
Across every birth date this calculator accepts, the first pass falls between ages 48 and 51, and the last no later than 52. The age is the stable part. What genuinely varies, and varies enormously, is the shape:
- the return happens once, three times or five times, depending on where it falls relative to Chiron's turning points
- it can be a single afternoon, or a span of more than eighteen months
- and it lands in the year after birth year plus fifty about half the time
Which of those you get is not something a shortcut can guess at. It has to be computed.
What astrologers make of it
Chiron is read as the place where a person is both injured and unusually able to help — the wound that turned into a competence. The return is written about as the point where that material comes back round, no longer as something to survive but as something to have an opinion about.
It arrives at an age when a great deal else is in motion. This site takes no view on why that is, offers no account of it in physical terms, and does not predict anything about it. What it does is tell you the dates correctly.
