Why sites disagree about your chart

House systems, explained without jargon — and why two correct sites can show you different houses.

Draft outline

Pairs with the comparison view. The reader arrives annoyed and suspicious that one of the sites is broken. Neither is.

The part everyone agrees on

Planet positions are the same everywhere to within an arcminute. Establish this first, so the disagreement is contained rather than total.

The part they don’t

The sky has no lines on it. Dividing it into twelve houses is a choice, and there are several defensible ones. Name the six the tool offers and what each divides.

Why your rising sign can differ too

Cover the gazetteer point: two services can place the same city a couple of kilometres apart, which moves the ascendant by a couple of arcminutes — enough to matter only if you were already on a boundary.

What to do about it

Pick one and stay with it. Say which this site defaults to and why.
